The first Welland vaccination clinic kicked off today.
The clinic at the Niagara Centre YMCA will also be held tomorrow and Friday from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM.
Around 4,000 people received shots at the clinics in the Falls, and about 2,500 residents are expected to be vaccinated over three days in Welland.
Niagara Region Public Health says there are still open slots for tomorrow, as well as for upcoming clinics at Brock University in St. Catharines.
Doctor Mustafa Hirji, Niagara's Acting Medical Officer of Health, advises everyone to get a shot once they become eligible.
"Only if we all get vaccinated can we stop this pandemic. I encourage anyone who is over the age of 75, and has not yet registered for their appointment, does so very soon."
So far, 17,706 Niagara residents have booked appointments at local clinics through the provincial booking portal.
