Provincial government spending $8-million on 16 clinics to train more medical professionals
The Niagara region has been included in a plan to support 16 primary care teaching clinics across Ontario, in order to get more people a doctor.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones said today each clinic will receive up to $500,000, part of the government's $2.1-billion plan to connect everyone to primary care by 2029.
The Niagara clinic will be run by MacMaster University. "And, in partnership with Ontario's medical schools, these clinics will train family medicine residents, in a team based model, alongside other health care professionals, such as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and registered nurses."
The government is spending up to $8-million on these clinics.
