Ribfest mascot Piggy Smalls building hype for May 2-4 weekend

If you drive by Niagara Falls city hall over the next few days, you'll notice a really, big pig... a 30 foot tall inflatable named Piggy Smalls.

Ribfest organizer Dennis Nehpin says the pig is the mascot, who will eventually be sitting at Fireman's Park during May 2-4 weekend.

He adds city council is meeting today while Piggy Smalls is outside, waiting patiently.  "We've met with the Mayor, and he's fully pro-active for community events.  He wants to see events like this stay free, and accessible.  That's what they're talking about today, to make sure Ribfest stays a part of the community, remains a staple event."

He says you can find more information about Ribfest online on Facebook.

"For Piggy Smalls, he's a tour mascot, travelling as far as the Northwest Territories, Yellowknife, he's been to Tumbler Ridge, BC, he's been to Peterborough, Pembroke, he's been everywhere."

He says the Rotary Club has done Ribfest for 20-years, but now passing it to the Firemen's Association.
