The Minister of Long-Term Care was in Niagara on the Lake today with residents
Residents of the new Pleasant Manor long-term care home in Niagara on the Lake received a visit today from the provincial government.
Minister of Long-term Care Natalia Kusendova-Bashta joined a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
She says the old home had 41 beds, this one has 119 more.
Total government investment is $303-million for this home, for construction, but also future funding. "We're hiring long term care, we need staff. We need more PSWs, and nurses. We have some generous incentives as well, to attract people into the sector, like, for PSWs, and $10,000 incentive for a one year return of service, for nurses a $25,000 incentive for a 2-year return of service."
She says there are currently 5-other projects in the works for Niagara.
"The good thing is if I don't hear about the move, that means it went pretty well. I usually tend to hear about things if they don't go well. I believe it was a good transition, but that's why I'm going in to visit."
