Roland Weeks also wants to deal with economy and property taxes
Should Roland Weeks win the Niagara Falls mayor chair next week, one of his first priorities will be the homeless.
The former Toronto police officer says instead of putting responsibility on senior levels of government, city government needs to do a better job of taking care of its own citizens.
"They don't have an address, quite often it's just sheer bad luck. So we need to build apartments, something reasonable to get them back on the books."
The mayoral candidate adds his other priority will be property taxes, saying the current system is way out of date.
He also says he has ideas to improve the city's economy.
Weeks tells us it'll take years for tourism to return, so he wants to lure manufacturing businesses. "We could offer them reduced taxes, perhaps reduced hydro, reduced natural gas, although I want to try and get away from natural gas."
The candidate says being at the Canada/US border, there are lots of people that could be interested in working at these businesses.
