SIU investigated after man died in Welland
Ontario's Special Investigations unit has ruled NRP officers did nothing wrong when a wanted man died, while police were trying to bring him into custody.
This happened last December, when local police learned from Peel police the man was wanted for shooting a gun during an intimate partner violence case.
The man was found in an apartment in the Ontario Road and King Street area, and when he learned they were there, began shooting at them.
The SIU says Niagara police returned fire, and gas, the man jumped from a 2nd floor window, C8 shots were fired at the man, he was soon pronounced dead.
