UPDATE: It could still be few hours, before the Thorold Tunnel reopens. Witnesses say a garbage truck hit the ceiling this morning, causing the debris to fall in both lanes.
No injuries were reported.
OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the truck did not remain at the scene, so he's asking anyone with information to come forward.
Engineers are assessing the damage.
The Thorold Tunnel remains closed in both directions, after a truck crashed this morning.
The NRP says there is debris in both of the lanes.
The other vehicles inside the tunnel have been evacuated.
OPP say the reopening time is unknown.
