Automotive Parts Manufacturing Association says many Niagara companies contributed
The 1st all-Canadian made electric vehicle prototype was shown yesterday at the Canada Games Park in Thorold.
Automotive Parts Manufacturing Association president Flavio Volpe says the Arrow wasn't built by car manufacturers, but by Canadian companies, including many in Niagara. "Niagara Brakes, with their import advice for us... also guidance, especially from Linamar, that's made an exciting new investment in Welland... a lot of applied science companies that people have never heard of, that are writing software."
He says this car is meant to show global automakers they can enlist Canadian partners.
"Years to demonstrate to companies like Toyota, Honda, GM, and Mercedes, that there are Canadian suppliers that can help you get there in every class, and we'll show you how their technology works."
He says if this car was produced, retail price would be about $60,000.
