It's a federal holiday but not every federally regulated business is taking the day off
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced earlier this week the day of the Queen's funeral would be recognized as a one time Federal holiday and National Day of Mourning.
Ontario said no to taking part in that and it's caused a little confusion about who works Monday and who doesn't.
The federal government further clarified that federally regulated businesses could make their own decisions on whether to participate or not.
In Niagara, that means we will see banks open but there will be no mail delivery as Canada Post recognizes the day.
However, you'll likely find post outlets in Shoppers Drug marts operating.
LCBO's will be open, children will be in school,
Some Niagara municipalities are acknowledging the holiday.
Fort Erie, Port Colborne and Thorold have all chosen to observe the day and will close municipal offices.
The funeral for Queen Elizabeth is set for 6 o'clock eastern time on Monday.
