Foul play not suspected
A 52 year old Toronto man is dead after a drowning in the Welland River.
Police say around 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, officers were called to the Chippawa creek area of the river near Norton Street and Front Street.
Witnesses told police they saw a man become submerged in the water.
Around 6:00 p.m., his body was found by members of the NRP Marine Unit.
Investigators say he went in for a swim, and foul play is not suspected.
