Users under 18 will need a passcode to use TikTok for longer than 60 minutes a day
TikTok is limiting screen time for kids.
The company says in the coming weeks, accounts held by a user under the age of 18 will have a daily screen time limit of 60 minutes.
Teens that hit the limit will be asked to enter a passcode to keep watching.
According to TikTok, this will force teens to make an active decision to keep scrolling.
Users under the age of 13 will need to have a parent enter a passcode for 30 extra minutes.
TikTok is also giving parents the ability to customize daily screen-time limits for teenagers, including choosing different time limits depending on the day of the week.
The move comes as lawmakers in Canada, the U.S and the E.U. ban the app on government devices.
