UPDATE: The MTO has decided to push back the Thorold Tunnel closure until next week.
It’s going to be closed in both directions for construction starting Sunday, May 10th at 12:00 p.m.
It should reopen on Monday, May 18th at 6:00 a.m.
The City of Thorold says the construction delay was due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
Don’t plan on taking the Thorold Tunnel over the next two weeks.
The MTO says it’s closed for construction and it should reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18th.
The tunnel is off-limits in both directions so you can expect delays in the area.
You can access Highway 58 northbound by heading west on Regional Road 20 and taking the 406 northbound.
Those looking to head south on Highway 58 will have to take the 406 south and head east on Regional Road 20.
