Air Canada will gradually resume its flights starting today.
TORONTO - A tentative agreement has been reached between Air Canada and the union representing about 10,000 flight attendants.
The announcement came just hours after mediated talked resumed in Toronto.
The tentative deal will end the strike that began on Saturday that grounded flights and impacted thousands of travellers across the country. Flights should resume later today, but the airline says it could take seven to ten days to get back to full regular service because the aircrafts and crew members are out of position.
Flight attendants were on the picket lines yesterday, even though Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu issued a back to work order on Saturday. The Canadian Union of Public Employees filed a challenge in against the Canada Industrial Relations Board in federal court in response. The board also ruled yesterday, that the strike was unlawful.
