Over 100 Spotted Lanternflies found in Buffalo since September 9th.
Niagara residents are being urged to keep an eye out for spotted lanternflies.
Over 100 of these insects have been detected in Buffalo since September 9th, but they haven't been seen in Canada yet.
The Invasive Species Centre says the spotted lanternfly threatens grapevines, fruit trees and hardwood trees.
Adults are typically present between July and December and can begin laying one inch long muddy looking egg masses in September.
The masses can be laid on outdoor hard surfaces such as tree trunks, firewood and patio furniture.
You can report sightings to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
A Spotted Lanternfly Information Workshop will be held at the Lincoln Pelham Public Library tomorrow and on October 5th between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
