Program provides sneakers, school supplies and healthy snacks to children registered with the program.
Summer may have just started, but Community Cares of St. Catharines and Thorold has already started helping kids return to class on the right foot.
The organization has already started its 'Snacks n' Sneakers' program.
Children from junior kindergarten to Grade 12 that are registered with the agency can apply for the program, in order to receive a pair of brand new sneakers, as well as a backpack with school supplies and healthy snacks.
"It is important that students return to school with the supplies they need so that their first priority is to participate and learn in class," says Betty-Lou Souter, CEO of Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold. "Any parent or guardian to school aged kids knows how quickly the costs can add up when preparing for another school year."
