Niagara Falls council fully behind request to rename section of Queen Street for his contributions and music
A very special day is coming Saturday on Queen Street in Niagara Falls... the renaming of a section of the road to Rick Rose Way.
Long-time friend Wendy Leard, who runs Wendy Leard School of Dance, says Rick devoted his life to the street through the BIA, his music, and business, and fought to the end in doing so.
She adds many business signs, including hers, were made by his business. "His heart was on Queen Street, and when he died he kind of left a hole in that area. I decided quickly we had to do something to honour Rick."
She stood before city council and asked for the road change, to which council fully agreed with.
It'll happen at the Tap's parking lot at 6:30 Saturday night.
She gets emotional when talking of everything he did. "So many more years to give and he still would've given, and he was still giving right until the end. His school is doing beautiful things, we just went to their year-end recital on Friday night."
She adds a Lowe's wood guitar, Rick's favourite type of material for a guitar, will be given away.
