It's making some changes in Community Safety Zones where speed cameras are
There's confusion for some drivers over speed limit signs and traffic calming measures in Community Safety Zones, and the Niagara region is trying to address that.
The region says since speed cameras were introduced in 2023, residents have expressed concern the program is confusing drivers.
A review has been done, leading to changes that include moving to consistent, constant speed limits all day in most school zones, as well as flex-post bollards and new pavement markings.
Also, speed limits will be reduced directly in front of schools, but increase to normal speed beyond the schools.
The region adds these changes will happen this month at schools within 8-Community Safety Zones, which are on the region's website.
There are more measures coming through the year, and 2026.
