There's more pressure on the Ford government to deliver funding for the South Niagara Wastewater Treatment plant.
That coming from local MPPs Wayne Gates and Jennie Stevens, who say it's an essential infrastructure project, as the need for housing continues, yet targets fail.
Wayne Gates says in 2023 and 2024 the premier committed to this plant, yet not a single dollar has come, while water bills have risen 12% to patch aging infrastructure.
He also quoted Niagara Falls mayor Jim Diodati, who said "without capacity, we won't be building new homes", in reference to needing infrastructure for development.
Jennie Stevens says the new plant is needed to increase flow capacity to the current St. Catharines plant, and new housing from Thorold is creeping into St. Catharines.
She also said local taxpayers should not be taking care of this bill through yet another property tax hike, and for the government to work with the federal level.
Both of them added the government can get work done for Toronto, yet communities like Niagara have to wait their turn.
