Officers arrested 6 people in Niagara Falls for using drugs in public
Police have put a stop to more illegal drug use in public areas, in response to community concern.
On Friday, they were in the Main Street area of Niagara Falls conducting their "open-air drug initiative", where they arrested six people for using drugs in a public space.
Police took 20 glass pipes, and other drug items, but also gave the individuals information on community resources and treatment options.
Back on July 15th, police were doing the same initiative in the same area, arresting 7-people using drugs.
They say 45-year old Ashley Donovan of Niagara Falls was arrested on an outstanding warrant, charged with theft under $5,000 and not complying with probation.
They also watched a drug transaction, and arrested 54-year old Charmaine Taylor of Niagara Falls, who received multiple charges.
