NRP evacuated the mall, and say a number of witnesses suffered minor injuries
A brazen daylight robbery at the Pen Centre has police looking for five suspects, and a number of by-standers recovering from minor injuries.
Police were called just after 1 this afternoon, concerning a theft at Griffin Jewellery.
They say 5 people walked in, and used a small sledgehammer to break several display cases. The suspects took some jewelry, and put it in bags they were carrying.
Police say a small number of witnesses tried to intervene, causing the criminals to flee, with the witnesses chasing. One witness ran into a mall column, which required treatment at hospital for minor injuries. Police add two other witnesses were sprayed with an irritant similar to pepper spray, and they were treated at the scene.
The thieves left the mall through an east exit to a waiting silver looking Honda CRV, licence plate BFZV 946 ONT, which left toward Chestnut Street West. Police add the licence plate was registered to a different vehicle.
