Most of those charges for speeding
The OPP reporting some startling stats from last week's Operation Safe Driver.
Provincial police say during the week long enforcement and education campaign they laid 3,300 charges.
Close to 3,000 of those charges were laid against non commercial drivers with speed far outnumbering all other offences.
Charges were also laid for failure to buckle up, distracted driving and driving while impaired.
Among commercial drivers, OPP say speeding also accounted for the highest number of charges.
A total of 28 big rigs were taken out of service for a variety of violations.
