The Ontario Secondary School Teacher's Federation (OSSTF) is pushing for a return to remote learning in the province's COVID-19 hot spots.
OSSTF President Harvey Bischof says he doesn't understand why schools are remaining open while there is a rise in COVID-19 cases.
"For Stephen Lecce to insist that schools remain open to in-person learning this week as recent school-related cases of COVID have hit upwards of 40 per cent of schools in hot spot areas of the province is mind-boggling and unconscionable."
Bischof also says that the Ford government needs to offer vaccines to frontline workers in areas experiencing a surge in cases.
In addition, the OSSTF is urging the province to implement paid sick days for workers in Ontario and provide more funding to improve ventilation systems in schools.
