They say the vast majority of collisions with transport trucks due to non commercial drivers
A stark reminder from provincial police of bad driving habits involving crashes between transport trucks and other vehicles, or non commercial drivers.
OPP say almost 20% of collisions this year involved transport trucks, but 86% of those due to poor behaviour on the part of non commercial drivers.
Truck drivers were at-fault in the remaining 14%.
31 people have died in such crashes.
Police blame speeding, following too close, and improper passing behind truck involved collisions every year.
OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique adds many families are paying a devastating price, losing a loved one, because of drivers making a conscious decision not to share the road safely.
