He says students deserve better.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff has issued a statement, as the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario holds a one-day strike in Niagara.
Oosterhoff says the impact of union escalation is real, and that's why the Ford Government introduced the Support for Parents initiative.
It helps parents pay for child care when teachers walk off the job during the 2019-2020 labour negotiations.
The government has received 202,339 applications for funding to date.
Oosterhoff is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education.
He says the government will continue to work with one-focus, landing deals that keep students in class.
Today's strike only targets elementary schools in the District School Board of Niagara.
High schools should not be impacted.
