The province is moving forward with plans to provide second doses of the AstraZeneca shot.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams made the announcement this morning, noting the province will begin with people who received their first AstraZeneca shot between March 10th and March 19th.
For a limited time next week, individuals who received their first AstraZeneca dose during that time period can choose to get an earlier dose interval of ten weeks with informed consent.
Eligible individuals are advised to get in touch with the pharmacy or healthcare provider where they got their first shot and book an appointment beginning the week of May 24th.
Primary care settings and pharmacies may also reach out to people who are eligible.
Williams paused the rollout of first doses of the vaccine earlier this month due to concerns about the risk of blood clots.
Williams notes that further guidance on second doses for those who received a first AstraZeneca dose after March 19th will be provided in the near future.
