Wayne Gates was joined by other MPPs today, asking the government to make access easier
Another effort by Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates to make sure prostate screening for men is covered under OHIP.
He was joined this morning at Queen's Park by Independent MPP Bobbi Ann Brady, Green leader Mike Schreiner, the Canadian Cancer Society, and Dave Flus, from the Niagara Prostate group.
They're urging the government to eliminate cost barriers to this simple potentially, life saving test.
Gates says this isn't about politics, it's about saving lives, as every year thousands of men are diagnosed too late because of the cost to early testing.
Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Brady added it's proven that if prostate cancer is detected early, nearly 100% of men survive the disease 5-years or more.
