Niagara Finances Given 'C' Grade

The region received a C in a financial accountability ranking of municipalities by the C.D. Howe Institute

If the Niagara Region was in school, it would likely get a “could do better” on its report card.

The Region received a “C” in a ranking of the fiscal accountability of municipalities by the C.D. Howe Institute.

In the study, researchers William Robson and Nicholas Dahir assess the timeliness and clarity of city budgets.

Niagara received a C for reconciling its restated budget projections in its financial statements using only the operating number from the original budget.
