Retired teacher wins big with Encore
A Niagara Falls man is celebrating a big win.
Retired teacher John Carruthers has won $100,000 after matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in the June 7th draw.
He says he enjoys playing Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max when the jackpots are big, and always plays Encore.
"I’ve had friends who have won big," said John, while picking up his prize. "Now it was my turn!"
The retired teacher says he'll save some of the money, share some with family and do projects around the house.
He also plans to take his grandchildren to Disney.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on Dorchester Road in Niagara Falls.
