An educational assistant at St. Mary's Catholic School in Welland has been charged with the sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy
Niagara Regional Police say 48-year-old Tracy Coleman of Port Colborne was in a three month long relationship with the victim, who is a former student.
The Director of Education Camillo Cipriano has released a response saying "The arrest was shocking, and the nature of the charges are deeply troubling."
The statement goes on to say that Tracy Coleman has been placed on administrative leave.
The school principal reached out to staff, parents and guardians early Sunday morning with a message that included how to access support for those who need it.
Police have reason to believe there may be more victims, and are asking anyone with information to reach out.
