Wayne Gates speaking for Niagara on the Lake museum
The provincial government is being singled out as the final puzzle piece to preserve the historic Niagara on the Lake museum.
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates has written to Minister of Tourism Stan Cho, in support of the museum's request for $2-million in funding toward its redevelopment.
Gates noted the federal government has put in $2-million, and Niagara on the Lake is forking over $1-million.
The letter points out the museum shows milestones in Ontario's history, such as the first Legislature, Canada's first anti-slavery laws, and more.
The letter also indicates the importance of Niagara on the Lake, in attracting 3.5-million visitors annually.
