Wayne Gates says he's been working on this with other NDP members
Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates is pleased the provincial government is improving WSIB benefits for injured workers.
He says injured workers, families and Niagara advocates deserve credit for pushing the government to act this week, on his Bill 86.
The NDP says government MPPs were the only ones to vote against his bill, written alongside two of his NDP colleagues, but the government did eventually approve some of the measures in Bill 86.
Improvements include increasing loss-of-earning benefits, and for those over 65 years old.
Gates adds he's been pushing WSIB reform in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
