Trudeau government votes down motion by Niagara Falls MP to move Bernardo back to max security
The Trudeau government has stopped a motion by Niagara Falls Conservative MP to have killer Paul Bernardo returned to a maximum security prison.
CHCH news is reporting Tony Baldinelli introduced a motion in the House of Commons yesterday, but that was voted down, losing by one vote.
However, Baldinelli is introducing a private member's bill tomorrow that Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre says would prevent the Trudeau government from moving multiple murderers to medium security.
Our newsroom has reached out to Tony Baldinelli's office for clarification, as well as St. Catharine's liberal MP Chris Bittle.
Bernardo was convicted of the killings of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy in the early 90s in St. Catharines.
