Police say doctor was threatened after promoting mask wearing
An Ontario man is facing charges under a new law against intimidating a health-care worker.
Police say they are looking for the 58-year-old in relation to threatening phone calls made to an Ottawa area family doctor.
That doctor says she was threatened after appearing on a national TV show advocating for people to keep wearing masks.
Harassment and intimidation of health-care workers took on new levels during the pandemic, prompting the federal government to pass a law in December 2021 to specifically make it a crime to intimidate health workers or their patients.
