Police say Welland residents stepped in, called police
Police giving credit to some Welland residents for helping to stop a man from defrauding an elderly person any further.
They were called last Friday to the Sixth Street area, learning the suspect finished random work for the victim, and convinced the victim he was a friend or relative.
He used this to take the elderly person, via taxi, to the bank, and get money which was given to the suspect.
Police say this happened five times, but neighbours stepped in on the 6th time, and called police.
Yesterday, police charged 47-year old Jason Jacobs with:
- Fraud Under $5000
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
- Uttering Threats
He has a bail hearing today.
