About 400 vehicles were checked during a Niagara Regional Police RIDE spotcheck Friday, in a kickoff to the long weekend.
Police conducted the checks at locations in Thorold and Port Colborne.
Throughout the night, officers stopped vehicles and inquired if any of the drivers had consumed alcohol or drugs earlier in the evening.
In total, eleven drivers were required to provide a sample of their breath for analysis. Three drivers resulted in an Alert and they subsequently had their drivers licences suspended for a period of three days.
In addition to the suspensions, Provincial Offence tickets were also issued to several drivers for various traffic related offences.
