A little rain didn't dampen the Merritton Labour Day parade!
Floats, local unions, politicians, dancers, bands, community groups and more waved to the small crowds that showed up along St. Catharines streets on a rainy Monday morning, as the Merritton Lions Club hosted its 73rd parade and Labour Day weekend carnival.
It was the first parade since 2019, after a COVID-19 hiatus.
The years between didn’t lessen enthusiasm, with about 60 entries taking part in the parade, about the same number pre-pandemic.
About nine unions participated, five marching bands, the local legion branch, the fire department and a number of other local businesses.
