6 men died at Niagara jail in Thorold, or while transported to hospital, at different times
An inquest into the deaths of six men at the Niagara regional detention centre in Thorold has been delayed.
The province says the deaths happened between 2018 and 2022, either while at the jail, or on the way to hospital.
The inquest was to start Monday, but no word has been given to the new date or why the delay.
The inquests are mandatory under the Coroners Act, and will look at the circumstances surrounding what happened.
The jury could make recommendations in order to prevent future deaths.
