Category 4 hurricane made landfall on the same date as Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Ida has knocked out power to all of New Orleans and has inundated coastal Louisiana communities on a deadly path through the Gulf Coast.
Forecasters warn of damaging winds, heavy rainfall, flash flooding and life-threatening storm surge as Ida continues its rampage inland this morning through southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi.
The storm made landfall yesterday as a Category 4 hurricane, tying for the fifth-strongest to ever hit the U.S. mainland.
Ida is already blamed for at least one death near Baton Rouge.
