Human Trafficking Arrest Leads to Facebook

Call police if you bought items via Marketplace at a Niagara Falls house

The arrest of a Niagara Falls man for human trafficking has also led police on a Facebook Marketplace investigation.

It all started this month, when Niagara Regional police learned of allegations of physical abuse against someone under 16-years old.

The Human Trafficking Unit joined the case due to allegations of child labour exploitation, and that led to the arrest of a 30-year old Niagara Falls man.

Police say he's been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Trafficking in person under 18 years
  • Receive material benefit from trafficking person under 18 years
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime exceeding $5000.00

Police add to protect the identity of the victim, they're not revealing the named of the accused, or any more details of the investigation.

However, police would like to talk to anyone who bought items via Facebook Marketplace at a home in the Lundy's Lane and Highland Avenue area of Niagara Falls, between June 2023 and now.  If you were at a home in that area to buy items from Marketplace, during that time, call the NRP.
