Update: Police Charge Another Man, Other Charges Dropped

Police say man was stabbed while sitting on Niagara Falls park bench

We have more news from police concerning an stabbing in a Niagara Falls park on Queen Street.

They were called on the evening of March 27th, to find a 66-year old Toronto man hurt.

Based on evidence found, police arrested 35-year old Luizao Miguel Castro of no fixed address not far from the scene, and charged him with aggravated assault and not complying with probation.

Further evidence found has determined Castro is not responsible, and instead they've arrested and charged 23-year old Mackenzie Duncan of Toronto with attempted murder, and not complying with probation.

Castro remains in custody on an unrelated matter.

Police add the victim is recovering at home.

A 66-year old Toronto man is alive thanks to life saving surgery, after getting stabbed while sitting on a park bench in Niagara Falls.

Police say it happened last night just before 9, in the Queen Street and Erie Avenue area.

They learned the man was stabbed multiple times, while sitting, by an unknown attacker, who then ran from the scene.

Police used the K9 unit, and found the suspect on St. Clair Avenue, near Queen, a short time later, finding he was wanted for failing to comply with probation and release.

35-year old Luizao Miguel Castro, of no fixed address, was also charged with aggravated assault, and has a bail hearing today.

The victim is in stable condition, after being sent to an out of town trauma centre.
