Queen Won't Intervene in GG Resignation

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace has responded to the news that Canada's governor-general has resigned.

They say the Queen has been advised, and she will leave the matter in the hands of the Canadian government.

Julie Payette has been the subject of allegations that she created a toxic workplace at Rideau Hall.

The government accepted a report last week on the matter, and at least one official said it came to ``compelling'' and ``stark'' conclusions.

Justin Trudeau says her resignation provides an opportunity for new leadership at Rideau Hall to address the workplace concerns raised by employees during the review.
