Walkout affects bus service, but not trains
Not only are Ontario education workers striking, but 2,200 GO Transit employees are heading to the pickets today.
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 15-87 issued a statement yesterday saying it was unable to secure a new contract with Metrolinx.
The strike involves bus operators, station attendants and other employees, though doesn't impact train service or station access.
Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins encouraged customers to plan ahead, prepare extra time for commutes and stay informed through GO Transit's website and social media accounts.
