The mayor says the city has received complaints about the condition of the buildings
An ultimatum has been given to the owners of the old GM property in St. Catharines... fix the buildings or tear them down.
The city tells us it has received a number of complaints related to the property on Ontario Street, which led to an inspection of the site.
That inspection led to the order to make the repairs or tear the buildings down.
Mayor Mat Siscoe is thanking everyone who raised concerns, and made assurances the building owners will be held accountable.
He also understands the frustration for over a decade the time and money spent in trying to develop the site, and hopes this recent order serves as a starting point in moving forward.
