Atlantic provinces stepping up to help as well
With the province reporting over 2,000 people are now in hospital with COVID-19, and of those 741 are in an ICU and 506 are breathing with the help of a ventilator, the federal government is sending some desperately needed help.
Prime Minister Trudeau said in a video update yesterday, federal government health workers would be redeployed to Ontario.
Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc says they are also working with lesser hit provinces like those in Atlantic Canada to send some of their healthcare workers to Ontario.
LeBlanc says Ottawa will pick up the full cost.
He says the wife of Newfoundland's premier, Dr. Allison Furey, will be part of the Atlantic contingent heading to Ontario.
