The federal government is considering implementing COVID-19 testing for essential workers, like truck drivers, who regularly cross the border into the U-S.
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says the move is in the planning stages right now adding it’s a way to protect those workers as they move between the two countries.
Meantime new testing requirements went into effect at the Canada US border yesterday
Non essential travellers will have to provide proof of a negative COVID 19 test taken in the past 72 hours when they arrive at the border, anyone without proof could be fined up to $3,000.
