Cause of fire at Ma Chinese Cuisine Restaurant remains under investigation
On Saturday, at approximately 4:15 PM emergency services personnel responded to a report of a fire at the restaurant on Geneva Street.
Police, fire and EMS all responded to the call.
When they arrived they found two males in critical condition.
Both were both treated at the scene and taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where one of the men identified as a 46 year old man from Scarborough died.
No word on the condition of the other victim a 32 year old man from Markham.
Police say the victims were both employees of a roofing company working at the restaurant at the time of the fire.
Customers and employees were quickly evacuated.
The cause remains under investigation by police, fire, the Ontario Fire Marshall and the Ministry of Labour.
