Don't Wait for Gas Prices to Drop: McTeague

Niagara gas station prices dipped to around $1.10 recently

Don't expect gas station prices in Niagara to change much over the next few weeks, after they dipped to the $1.10 range during the federal election.

Gas analyst Dan McTeague tells us that was about the same time OPEC dropped oil prices to $61 a barrel to play nice with Donald Trump.  "So, that including the value of the Canadian dollar, meant, on average, about a 12 cent decrease on top of the 20 cent decrease for gasoline prices because of the removal of the consumer carbon tax, temporarily, because it's coming back, like it or not."

He adds the Carney government will continue with its 0-emissions mandate by forcing electric vehicles, and destroy Canada's oil and gas sector.

He also recommends filling the tank after 6pm, everyday.

"If gas stations are going to start with a big price increase in the morning, then drop it by 5, 10 or 12 cents a litre by the evening, beat every gas station out there that's playing what I call gas bar shenanigans... I've been doing this for 30 years, so I know what I'm talking about."

He says $1.28 a litre means a gas station is losing about 12 cents for what it buys wholesale.
