Meteorologist recalls this time last year Niagara was snowed in
A stark contrast in the weather between now and this time last year, as outlined by Environment Canada.
Meteorologist David Phillips recalls last year parts of the Niagara region couldn't move because of blowing snow.
This year, what a difference. "Look at Christmas Day, our forecast is calling for 8 degrees, I mean, that's almost 10 degrees warmer than what it should be. Yeah, it may not be a record, but it's certainly not like winter, yet, we'll be in the winter."
Snow and cold will arrive for January and February, but the amount could disappoint skiers and winter lovers.
He's pointing to Pacific air for the current weather, and lack of polar vortex... for now. "Polar vortex is there, it's up over in Siberia... so don't think that it's not coming. But, we think that the flavour of this winter is just kinda... balmy. There'll be moments that'll look like winter."
He adds winter arrived last night at 10:27, eastern standard time.
