A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on the Brock inpatient surgical unit at Greater Niagara General Hospital.
One patient and one staff member both tested positive for the virus.
Both cases have been deemed to be healthcare associated.
The situation is currently being monitored by Niagara Health's Infection Prevention and Control team, who are working with Niagara Public Health.
Actions being taken include closing the unit to new admissions or transfers, except when medically necessary, and cleaning and disinfecting the unit.
Contact tracing is underway, and visitors are not being allowed on the unit.
