Ford Government quietly working on a plan to get beer in corner stores by next Canada Day
An ice cold beer available at your corner store is still in the works by the Ontario government.
The province has been quietly consulting with stakeholders on how best to make good on Premier Doug Ford’s pledge of selling beer in corner stores.
At least one advocacy group telling CP24 they hope to see the market expanded by Canada Day of 2024.
Ford first made the promise years ago as part of his 2018 election campaign platform.
In the spring, the Ford government launched consultations on expanding sales to corner stores.
Participants were asked to sign non-disclosure agreements, so little is known about what is on the table.
